Not all fibre feeds bacteria. Resistant starch, and the cooling trick
Resistant starch is starch that escapes digestion in the small intestine and ferments in the colon. Some of it occurs naturally — green bananas and legumes are good sources — and some of it is created by cooking. When cooked potato, rice or pasta is cooled, a portion of the starch retrogrades into a crystalline form that digestive enzymes struggle with. Reheating does not entirely undo it. How to increase intake without a bad fortnight
